Eldkvarn

Ah, Eldkvarn. Why have I not blogged about you before? This is an old band, which is still active, and with after about 25 albums behind them, they're still good. It doesn't get better than this. Swedish music at it's best! There is so much I could tell you about this band that I don't know where to start. Most of the songs have a very nostalgic feel, and you can really tell how Plura, the main singer, is feeling. I can't really explain it; I'll just have you listen to them instead!

Ore Ska Band

Sorry for not being very active lately. I'm a working man now, you see...

So, I was at my friend's the other week and we listened to some music. Then, a wild ska song appeared! I asked her about the band, and before I knew it I had their discography.
Ore Ska Band is a happy, all girl-band that plays some kind of ska-pop.

Also, I'll probably be posting a lot of ska from here on, since I'm getting deeper into the genre(s?), and I just found a blog with loads of japanese ska. Is nice... As well as I am working, I am also lazy, so I wont link to any downloads tonight. Sorry :/

The King Blues

I don't know what this is. Some kind of  London-based mix between punk, folk, and ska with hip-hop influences. Yeah, something like that. They've released 3 albums, but I could only find good downloads for the two latest ones, so I haven't listened to the first one. Yet.

Ke$ha

Yes, I am doing this. It's by the request of a friend. He had a discussion about Ke$ha with ours, in which he claimed that she is "a talented young woman". Well, she does have a pretty good voice. Then he discussed this discussion with me, and I agreed to blog about her, and now I am doing so.

Ke$ha is an American electro/dance-pop singer who has been active since 2005, but she didn't release her debut album until 2010. She has been featured on lots of other artist's songs and albums. Most of her own songs are about partying, having fun and not giving a fuck.

Museum Of Bellas Artes

A three piece band from Sweden. Where the music can be described as harmonious indie pop and light 70s disco mixed with cheerful synths in combination with flutes. The result can be compared as late summer, sun-bleached hair, ocean waves and the twitter of birds in the air. Listen and just dream away.

Lady & Bird

Iceland has done it - again! Lady & Bird is a project between the singer/songwriter Keren Ann and the singer of Bang Gang, Barði Jóhannson. This is some kind of melancholic pop. The first time I listened to La Ballad of Lady and Bird I just stared at the screen of my computer. For several minutes, I just stared. Saddest shit ever! They've made a cover of Stephanie Says (The Velvet Underground) and the theme song of M*A*S*H. Anyway, it's awesome.

Those Dancing Days

The swedish girl-band Those Dancing Days plays awesome Tweepop, with the special twist of childish melody and lyrics that yet means something. The year 2008, I listened constantly on them and they were absolutely my favourites. A few weeks ago they released a brand new track, called "Fuckarias" (Finally something new). Pretty good actually, totally worth listening to. And they are also about to release and new album, at the beginning of next year. I'm so excited about it, I've been longing for it quite some time now. It'd better be good! Well, just check them out.

The Hep Stars

Mom and dad were young during the 60s, so obviously I have grown up with that kind of music - and that's the kind I find most enjoyable listen to. So you will probably see a number of posts with 60s bands/artists that I like. Here are the first band.
The Hep Stars is a Swedish band formed in 1963 and 1969 the original band disbanded. They played simple pop and yet so captivating. They were really big in Sweden and their legendary moment was in 1965 when they had three songs at the same time on the top ten list.

I know I haven't done a post on the blog in two weeks, and I'm sorry for that. But I have had quite stressful because of school and so on - I know, a lame excuse. Will try to do better from now on.

Navid Modiri & Gudarna

It was the summer of '09. I was spending three weeks in England, on a beautiful island called Isle of Wight. Here, I met a guy called Robert, and we had a lot in common. One of these things that we had in common was our taste in music. One day he asked me if I've heard about this band, Navid Modiri & Gudarna (translation: Navid Modiri & The Gods), a Gothenburg-based band. I told him that I had never heard of them, but that I would check them out. "Trust me, you've never heard anything like them".
I got home to Sweden, searched for them on Spotify. At first, I wondered what the fuck this was. My god, Robert was right. Never in history there has been a band like these guys. I've said before that "You've never heard anything like this before!" but this time, this time it's for real.

Navid, who originally comes from Iran, masters the swedish language like no-one else. As far as I know, he is a poet, author, show host on both TV and radio (or, at least he was), a famous blogger and a musician, but hey, this blog is about music, so let's focus.
I guess that they play some kind of mixture between pop, reggae, folk, and something else with spoken word vocals. The lyrics are political, personal, and many times very metaphorical. (FYI: The first time I listened to I Väntan På Stormen I didn't realize that there was a whole verse about masturbation). Most of the songs just make me want to dance, and is at some points really intense.

They've released three albums so far; Dags För Slagsmål (2005), Många Mil Att Gå (2006), and Allt Jag Har Lärt Mig Hittills (2008). I can't seem to find any good links for rapidshare. I used torrents when I downloaded their albums. I'd say that Många Mil is the best, though they are all very good.

[ingenting]

The band [ingenting] from Stockholm, Sweden, plays indie / pop / rock. The band was formed in 2003 and currently, has seven members. They have a down tuned sound with beautiful lyrics - that gives a inner calm with it's harmonious tones.  I would say that [ingenting] is Stockholm's equivalent of Gothenburg's "Håkan Hellström" and Eskilstuna's "Kent".
Well, I don't have so much more to say. Just check them out!
